Amish Friendship Soup
Ingredients:
- 1/3 beef bouillon granules
- ¼ cup dried minced onion
- 1 ½ tbsp. dried parsley
- 1/3 uncooked brown rice/wild rice
- ½ cup dried green split peas
- 1/3 uncooked long grain white rice
- ½ cup dried lentils
- Tri-colored rotini pasta
Commonly known as Amish friendship soup, this jar idea will warm the heart of your recipient. To prepare this gift, place the ingredients into the jar in the order listed above. When you get to the pasta, there is no need to measure; simply fill the jar to the top. Voila – your friendship soup is ready to share.

Remove the pasta from the jar and set aside. In a large pot, combine 6 cups of water and 6 cups of vegetable stock. Bring to a boil over high heat. Add the contents of the jar to the pot and return to a boil. Reduce to low heat, cover and simmer for 25 minutes or until rice, lentils, and split peas are tender. Add the pasta and ½ lb. of cooked ground beef. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 10-12 minutes or until pasta is tender. Enjoy!
